The story is about twins Kestrel and Bowman. They live with friends and family in a sort of prison or society with regulations where their people are being suppressed. Kestrel and her brother are going to get them to their homeland.
I really enjoyed these books, though it has been years since I have read them.
the books are:
The Wind Singer
Slaves of Mastery
Firesong
I had to read this book for class. I usually do not understand Shakespeare so I was NOT going to read it. Well I went to class the day I was supposed to have it read but my professor had canceled class. So I had time to read it, and a whole extra two days. Ugh! that meant that I had to read it. So I did. I read it in two hours- because I had that amount of time until my next class. So I really skimmed the whole thing and didn’t understand a thing. Like, I knew what happened but I didn’t understand why it was so important. I still don’t. The moral of the story is that the daughter who King Lear thought didn’t love him really did. She just wasn’t fake.
I tried to read Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen almost three years ago. I could not do it. Well since then I have realized the satirical nature of the book/story. I have seen both versions of Pride and Prejudice, the BBC 6 hour version and the 2005 version countless times. Well I decided to give it ago again and I have to say that I loved it. We know the story but while reading it I looked for Jane Austen’s wit and comedy in the story.
I was hooked in this book after the first sentence on the back cover. Chris McCandless goes on his dream adventure to Alaska. I grew up in Alaska, not too many miles away from his spot. I do not know how I feel about his decision and outcome, I seems to go back and forth in my position. I do think it was extremely radical what he did. I know that nature is more powerful then any human. While reading the book I felt like I was him, other times I felt like he was absolutely crazy. I still love Alaska, but never would I ever suggest to go unequipped AND unexperienced into the Great Alaska Frontier.
